Commission on Child Welfare Experts

Commission on Child Welfare Experts was established with effect from 1st of January 2010. The Commission shall quality assure all reports submitted by experts in child welfare cases, whether they are ordered by the child welfare service, County Boards, the courts or private parties. A report can only form the basis for action being taken in accordance with Chapter 4 of the Norwegian Child Welfare Act when it has been reviewed by the Commission . The report must also be placed before the Commission when an expert report adopts the view that the child welfare service does not need to take action. The Commission's activities are authorised under section 2.5 of the Norwegian Child Welfare Act. All expert reports used in child care cases are quality assured by the Commission.

Commission on Child Welfare Experts consists of a chairperson and 15 members appointed by an Order in Council for a term of three years. The Commission's Secretariat is based alongside the Norwegian Civil Affairs Authority in Oslo.
